Daan Van Baalen ha avviato il Norway Gestalt Instite (NGI) nel 1986, ed è attualmente co-proprietario della NGI, di cui è il responsabile professionale, nonchè terapeuta, supervisore e docente.
Ha conseguito il Certificato Europeo di Psicoterapia (ECP).
Daan è medico (1971, Paesi Bassi), terapeuta della Gestalt (1975, Paesi Bassi), Analista di gruppo (1983) e terapeuta in psicosintesi (1981 a Londra). Ha 10 anni di esperienza nel campo della medicina generale come medico e psicoterapeuta. Dal 1987 ha lavorato al progetto di ricerca “Cancro e Psicoterapia” presso l’Università Erasmo da Rotterdam, dove ha lavorato come psicoterapeuta con i pazienti affetti da malattie croniche. Dal 1979 al 1995 è stato direttore e docente presso il Gestaltinstituttet Multi-di-Mens. Ha ottenuto il dottorato nel 2012.
Daan è paticolarmente interessato allo sviluppo della terapia della Gestalt e all’utilizzo di questa in contesti più ampi rispetto alla tradizionale terapia individuale, come ad esempio nella terapia di gruppo, in contesti lavorativi come nelle organizzazioni, nelle imprese e nelle multinazionali.
Tra i suoi più grandi interessi: come utilizzare il pensiero diagnostico in psicoterapia della Gestalt.

Daan was starting Norwegian Gestaltinstitutt in 1986, and is currently co-owner of the NGI as. He is the principal and professional responsibility, and in addition Gestalt therapist, supervisor and teacher at the Institute. He holds the European Certificate of Psychotherapy (ECP).
Daan is a medical doctor (1971, Netherlands), Gestalt therapist (1975, Netherlands), Group Analyst (1983) and psychosynthesis therapist (1981 in London). He has 10 years experience in general practice as a physician and psychotherapist. From 1987 he worked on the research project “Cancer and Psychotherapy” at Erasmus University, Rotterdam, where he psychotherapeutic work with chronically ill patients. From 1979 to 1995 he was director and teacher at the Dutch-Belgian gestaltinstituttet Multi-di-Mens. He got his PhD in 2012.
Daan is particularly keen to further develop Gestalt therapy and to use form of therapy in a wider context than individual therapy alone, for example, in therapy, group therapy, organizations, businesses and multinational work.
He is also interested in how to use diagnostic thinking in Gestalt therapy.
